Day 2 - Newcastle to Edinburgh

Today started with a parkrun at Jesmond Dene which is only about 400m from the hotel.  A lovely park but so very hilly.

We left Newcastle and had our lunch stop at Berwick on Tweed.  We visited this town when we were last here which was during lockdown.  We had our lunch on the ramparts and then walked along the coastal part which we didnt see before.  There are a lot of very old buildings alongside.  At one point we saw the remains of some daffodils that spelt out E II R 70, so a tribute to the Queen.  I am sure it looked amazing a month or so ago.  We then had a walk through the town before setting off for our hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

After a rest at our hotel in Edinburgh, we took the bus to the city centre and walked around the old town and part of the Royal Mile. The city was very crowded and there were quite a few hen and stag dos going on.
